Felix Gretarsson
Felix was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, 1972. He studied to be an electrician with special emphasis on high voltage distribution systems. At young age he had his first daughter, Rebekka, 1993 and the younger one, Dilja, in 1997.
January 12th, 1998, his life took a sudden turn when he had double arm amputation after a serious accident at work. His life spiraled down into abyss as he lost his health, status, relationship and sense of identity. Next years were challenging as he battled with drug abuse on top of hopeless situation.
In 2001 he decided to turn things around a create a better life for himself and those around him. With sever liver failure he entered a rehab and the following year he underwent a liver transplant….twice.
Faced with his new circumstances he managed to reconstruct his life, build his own business and live on his own. Through the help of excellent teachers and friends he went from surviving to thriving. He soon became fascinated with the power of mind and perception to mold a compelling future. Through the work with other alcoholics he managed to grow and expend on the concept, without ever considering this as a full-time career.
In 2007, Felix approach the famous, French, transplant doctor Jean-Michel Dubernard, at a hotel in Reykjavik. Dr. Dubernard had been the first doctor to ever perform a successful hand transplant. When Felix approach him with the idea of transplanting two whole arms from the shoulders down, he was inspired. No one had ever attempted such extensive surgery before, but the determination of Felix made him promise to at least do all the necessary research needed to see if this option could be considered.
This turned out to be no small task, but in 2011 the French transplant team decided to go ahead with the operation. Felix launched a nation-wide crowdfunding in order to move to France, pay for the surgery and related cost. The campaign was very successful and people such as Quentin Tarantino and the cast of his film Django Unchained pitched in to make this dream a reality. Summer of 2013 he finally moved to Lyon where the surgery will take place. After years of administrative and logistic setbacks he was admitted to the transplant list in 2016. He’s still waiting for a donor.
The years spent waiting he has used to further his education and already completed a life coach training at Robbins-Madanes Training under his teachers Tony Robbins, Cloe Madanes, Mark Peysha, and Magali Peysha.
He now works, alongside his beautiful wife as a passionate life coach, transforming the lives of people all over the world.
